Making Memories
Since 1940
When we say free, we mean just that. Over 80 seasons, the Free Ski School at Lookout Pass has introduced over 38,000 kids to the wonderful winter world of skiing and riding. Since 1940, volunteer instructors from across the Spokane area, north Idaho, and western Montana have been introducing children to the wonderful world of skiing and snowboarding.
How to Prepare for Classes
Show up on the scheduled class days.
Check that your gear is in good working order, or show up early to rent equipment from Lookout.
Wear gloves, a warm hat or helmet, snow pants, etc. It gets cold up here.
Go to the bathroom, get a drink, and have a snack as necessary so you're ready to start skiing or snowboarding when class starts.
Show up to your assigned flag color with all your gear, 10 minutes before your scheduled class time.
Be ready to participate and listen to your instructors.
After class, students need to be picked up at the flag by their parents.
What to Expect
All of our instructors are volunteers from the surrounding areas. Classes are separated by skill level and age. Lessons are taught in a group setting, which can sometimes be fairly large. So come ready to listen, learn, and above all else — have fun!
Registration is Free.
The lessons are Free.
And every flag is waiting for a new skier.
